On Friday night, February 18th, Mr. E.
Pennoycr’s house, now occupied byMr. S. C.
Horton and Mr. Hanson Hilton, was entered
by burglars, and robbed of the following.

teaspoons, napkin rings, ctc.; \Irs. Horton’s
silverware, they also stole Mrs. Richardson’s
(who is visiting Mrs. Ililton,) jewelry, and
five or six dollars .vin,»-silver .money. On a
previousvisit of Mrs. Richardson some eight
months since, the lady left her valise at the
depot, imd strange to say, the depot was then
broken into, and the valisc torn open and its
Contents spread around the floor. We fear
the lady will think that Rewayton is not .a
very desirable place to visit. Tile thieves
were very bold, as they left several stumps
of segars lying on tile table and the rooms
were filled with tobacco smoke. They no
doubt tried Mr. Hilton’s pipes.
On the same night, the house ~- of Mr.
Charles L. Raymond, was entered and the
hieves succeeded ill getting $30 worth
of Silver teaspoons. They also helped them-
selves to a large pitcher of fresh milk, and
two quarts of oysters that Mr. Raymond had
opened for breakfast. They then Went up
into the second story of the house, where
the light of their lantern awoke Mrs. Ray—
mond, who immediately asked, 1, “who is
there 1’” The thieves waited for no further
warning, but took their heels and succeeded
in getting away.
On the same night, Dr. Burkcs residence
on Roton Hill, was entered. '0

age, Mr. Bennett is the smartest man in

Mr. Charles Sherwood shows the cfiect of

Fifty thousand of land locked Salmon
Eggs from Schoodic Lake, Me, were receiv-
ed at the Trent Ponds Wednesday. They were
ill first rate condition, only one per cent. hav-
ing been lost during transportation. Land
locked Eggs were formerly obtained at Lake
Lebec, Me.
At a canons of Democrats held last - week,
Messrs. J. E. Wheeler and Albert Relyea,
were chosen delegates to the Democratic
State Convention. A republic caucus will be
held Tuesday evening at Sturges’ hotel for
the nomination of delegates to the State,
Senatorial, and County Conventions.
The marriage, Saturday, of Miss Betsey
D. Hurlbutt to Mr. Thomas B. Wheeler, of
Bethel, and her removal to that place, takes
