Owen Rice, of Ssugatuck, was sent to
Westport Saturdy iafternoon by his mother
for salt and kerosene. as had no difficulty

grocer, Owen managed to shave an amount

drains of liquor. After swallowing these be

ping the salt sack he tried in vain to pick it
up and failing gave vent to passion whi0h
he ingloriously displayed by slinging the oil
can against a. telegraph pole forcing its,
seams asunder and squirting the oil upon
himself and on all about. Owen fairly raved
"but the saltswould not pick up, nor would
the oil return . to. the can! In disgust, he
crossed the bridge where other performances
took place which made it appear that Owen
is not a very good errand boy.
Under the superintendeuce of Dr. Ed-
mouds as agent of the Connecticut and Mas-
sachusetts Fish commissioners, 50,000 young
Salmon were taken from the pond at Pop-
Plains, and a similar number on Friday
for transfer to the waters of the Connecticut
and other rivers of this State and Massa-
tehusetts. . -. _ , - .
