manager ofa grand amateur dramatic en-
tertainment at the Opera House on Tuesday
evening. -You bet it' will be a big thing
under his supervision for ‘Ike never stops at
any half ’way measure of doing such things.
Expect there will be a jam that evening.
Hen. Addis is putting up a building on
Franklin street, which he designs for a
grocery. ' " _
.- " The Nashingtonians were again on th
war-path last week and had-Lindy Cowl up
' for selling liquor to minors; he was found
:_ guilty and fined $40 and costs; he appeal-
~ ed. Again we say; good for the Washing-
toniana,‘we hope they will not weary in
well doing, but push along, keep moving,
untii'all our liquor dealers are made to toe
the mark.
A traveling Punch and Judy shoyv was
pleasing the juveniles here last week; the
first'ever seen hereabouts.
A party of young'men have organized
_‘ themselves into a social club, sitailiar to
one noticed in a late issue of your paper.
They have adopted the name of- the Cosy
club and have fitted up a cosy room for
their accommodation. , .-

The Allyn House wasythe centre ofat-

put up there. Gov. Ingersoll and Ex-Gov.

crowd however will be at New Haven on
Thursday 15th, when all hands will set out
to take a view of a live president,and a half-
dozen live generals, and twice that number
of statesmen, Governors of States,&e. If
anything can draw it is the G. A: R..

The House joint committee on Fisheries
has for its chairman Mr. E. M. Lees, Reprei
sentative from this place.

The eastern wedding tour of Mr. and Mrs.
C. B. Lyon was most agreeably interrupted
last Wednesday at Hartford. Taking re-
fuge at the Allyn House, they were enabled
to witness all the inaugural ceremonies.

Pack pcddlers are numerous and saucy.
Some of our people are getting out of
patience with them.

Mrs. Dr. Bouton has in her pa’rlorntumb-
ler of water with cotton at the top, in which
peas were planted six weeks since. The
sprouts are eight inches high, show while
blossoms, and the tumbler beneath the cot-
ton is completely full of tender roots.
