would involve an expense of eight or ten
millions, about the ﬁrst cost of the Croion
aqueduct. It took ﬁve years to build that,
but, though this would be quite as long, it
could probably be built in half the, time.
The. population of tche two countiesis now
fully equal to that of New York at the com-
- bleiion of her water works—that is 325,000.
It is understood that surveys and estimates
are to be made without delay. When it is
remembered that Newark is drinking the
nauseous waters of the Passuic, fereed by
steam pumps through all her streets, and
that her neighbors are no better off. it Will

The theater managers of New York know

'is just as patent here as elsewhere, and
dealers who conﬁne themselves to a well
established newspaper will ﬁnd that they
will invariably hold the advantage over
their competitors who take to extraneous
