The committee, on railroads reported
favorably on petition asking authorii y for
the town of Beihel to purchase the right of
lion to that effect was Offered. The amount
‘to be expended was not to exceed $6.000.
Mr. Hall, of Windham, said that last year
the Shepaug road 'was given power to ex-
tend to Danbiiry Or Bethe]. The citizens of
Bethel appointed a committee to petition the
legislature for authority for the loan to pay
for such a right of way or to reimburse ihosc
who had purchased this right of way. On
the strength of this, certain individuals had
become liable for 8 cost of the right of
way, which liabili the town now wishes to
assume. The only opposition came not
from Bcihcl Center, but from the outskirts.
The committee lhuught that the citizens
having acted in good faith, the town should
sup on them. ’ .
r. Booth, of Danbiiry, moved to amend
by requiring the resolution io be ratified by
a two-thirds vote of the citizens of Bethel.
Theldiscussion continued for some time
in his amendment to a
