WNssby in his letter bewails the unfor-
tunate condition of the Democratic party, in
touching words. He begins his letter in this
way :—
I am sometimes gloomy and despondent,
and never more so than now, To me the
skies is dark; to me the clouds is lowerin,

But Providence is agin us now, ez in the
past; 'Providence hez a most aggravatin

the Republikin party. Here wuz a preshure
in money matters, in consekence of short Of
crops for years—we stept in and offered a
cure in shape of 8. unlimited ishoo nv green-
bax, but alas l jest ez the dose wuz bein
swallered the crops interfered, and makin it
to the intrest uv everybody not to hev an
more afloat for fear twood depart them wic
they bed, and at one stroke this plenk wuz
knockt out from under us.
He accordingly thinks the party had bet-
ter drop its financial policy. As to “Blare,”
he says :— '
His rednis of face-and cheerful conviviali—
ty does much for us in Kentucky wher we
don’t want help, but good Hevins how it
tells agm us in the close States where we do
need help. His Brodhcd letter scale as uv
Kentucky; _but in N00 York wher our peo-
ple hev busmess and want peace it hez made
them skesry. It is my opinion that we’d
better drop Blare.
And so he drops the “ ishoos” one by one,
reconstruckshun, extravagance, taxes, ekal
taxashun, repudiashun, and sticks to the
“nigger.”
I aejest, therefore, that we drop all these
other complication ishoos, wich are too heft
for us anyhow, and fall back, for the Novem-
ber eleckshen, on the Nigger—one and indi- '
visible. Et we can’t win on him we can’t
wrn on any thin ,and may ez well throw up
the sp 0. hen the Democratic heart
wont at nigger, our coz is lost indeed.
