The tin wedding of Mr. and Airs. Martin
Gallrcy, at Cross Highways on Monday
evening of last week, was very largely at-
t--nded by their friends, notwithstanding
the unpleasant weather. An excellent supper
was served which was thoroughly enjoyed
by the guests. some of whom,j however, on
account of the large number present were
obliged to wait not only for the “second ta-
ble," but forthe and]: table also. Judging by
appearances, several tin warehouses and a
dozen or so yankce peddlars must have been
deprived of their stocks of useful and orna-
mental tin ware, to furnish presents to the
happy couple. ‘

article for another, or for money ;—-it creates
nothing which did not exist before; it adds
nothing to the real stock in trade. But the
culaivation of the soil is a positive source of
gain. Every bttshel of the cereals raised is
so much towards sustaining the life of man
and beast. So, also, the arts are valuable as
means to an end, as f'icilitatingthe great pur-
poses ot life, in rendering that easy which
otherwise would have been difficult, and in
aheapcning that which would have been

car.

Therefore, it becomes every community
studious of improvement, to have respect to
both these sources cfgain. They should en-
courag'e the‘cultivation of the soil. and alike
