covered in the, finishing room of O. Bene-
' dict '& Co’s Hot Shop, at Bethel, which1Ide-
‘stroyed that’bhilding,‘together with the ofiice
buildin'g,land the make shop, partially. The
ofilce building is an extensive brick house,
‘and used ,as a ’store room. At the timeoi
the fire there Wasa good deal of stock in the
building; a great share of which was de~
strayed. ' It is as ert impossible to estimate
the loss, but it must be heavy. The cause of
the fire is unknown. The building and stock .
were fully insured. The office building and
make shop are a total destruction. Had the
factory'been in one-building it would have
been all destroyed, but many outbuildings
aud‘small shops were saved. It is intended
to‘immediately rebuild, There were no oth-
er buildiugs burned. Our engine Went down,
