and about $40, in Currency, pennys and con-
fectionery taken therefrom. The thief, a lad

has again commenced running on the Bridge-
port route, aud the slow Stamford has been
hauled off and will be kept as a reserve boat.

DANBURY.—-Amateur performers have
been delighting the Danburians during the
past week by acting a Temperance play.
The flmes compliments the acting very
highly.
Daubury-was invaded Friday week by the
Bethe] military company, and remained at
their mercy several hours. Refreshments
were served up, and the town finally ran-
somed. '
In attempting to burn up a lot of value-
less old papers recently, Mr. Frank Taylor
came near being blown ’up by a package of
powder in the pile which had escaped his
Inotice. His hand was badly burned and
his face slightly singed. _
There is quite a strong temperance reVIval
in Danbury, says the Times“

of the Wooster House has got a “mild and
playful"bear which he is soon going to serve
up to his boarders.
The House of Hose CO. No. 2, was enter-
ed Saturday night week, and the Hose un-
reeled and replaced wrong end foremost up-
on the reel. In éaie of a fire it would have
taken a long time to re-adjust the hose.

The Board of Health of the Borough of
Norwalk, earnestly calls the attention of
every Householder in the Borough, to the
Sanitary conditiOn af his house, and premis-
es This inspection and care is needed eve-
ry year, but it may become especially so this
year, if our large cities be visited with the
Cholera. If every citizen will carefully in-
spect, and make clean and pure as possible
his own premises, we shall have done all
that we can do individually, to ward of} sick-
ness, There are three points about every
residence to which the Board specially di-
rects attention, '
ist. Let every one carefully clean the cel-
lar of his house and whitewash it and keep
it dry and ventilated.
2nd. Let every sink be closely inspected
and made and kept sweet.
36. Let ever outbuilding be thoroughly
attended to an be put and kept in the best
of order. Use, whenever necessary, the
common dcodorizas and disenfectants.
This call to put our houses in order, ought
to be sufficient incentive all of us There
has howover, been appointed a “ Committee
of Inspection of the Board of Health," con-
sisting of Dr. E. F. Birch, Wm. R. Nash and
T. K. Hubbell, whose duty it will be'toexam-
ine, whenever they deem neccessary, and
with authority to direct and do what may be
required for the Health of the Borough.
Notice is also hereby given that complaint
may be made to any of the undersigned,
members of the Board of Health, of any-
thing detrimental to the Health of the Bor-
ough. .
