FAIRFIELD CDUNTY ITEMS.
WILTON.—Oll Sunday last, the family at
the late David W.. Olmstcad, of Belden’s
Hill, on returning home from Church, found“
that their residence had been broken into
during their absence and robbed Of about
two hundred dollars worth of bonds, silver
plate, silk dress patterlls,&c. No clue. of
the thief has yet. been found,
R1DGEFIELD.—Thc Annual Drill of Co.H,
so. Regt. C. N. G., Capt. H. K. Scott, took
place on Wednesday last. The Company,
to the number of 68 men, for the first time
in their new uniforms, met at their Armory
at 8 o’clock, a. m., and headed by the Ridge-
field Cornet Band, marched to the Fair
Grounds, where they were drilled until~l2
o‘clock, ln., when they proceeded to Jones’s
flail, and partook of a sumptuous dinner,
prepared by Prof. L. O. Nerthrop, after
which a costly and magnificent Sword and
trappings were presented to the Captain by
the non-commissioned Ofiicers and privates
of the Company. in an appropriate speech
by private W. O. Seymour, which was feel.
ingly responded to by the Captain,——the
Baud playing “Huilto the Chief.”
Speeches were madeby Co]. B. B. Craniurd,
and all the commissioned officers of Co. G,
from Norwalk, who very kindly graced the
occasion by their presence. After other
speeches, and music by the Band, the com-
pany returned to the Fair Grounds and were
exercised in Skirmish Drill and other move-
ments. The exercises of the day ended
with a march thence to the head of Main St.,
and back to the Armory, where the men
were dismissed, all seeming well pleased
with their day’s work.
Ball cartridges could not be procured at
this time, but it is understood that the Coml
pany will turn out in the month of May for
Target practicein place of Regimental Drill.
WEsTON.—The Concert at the Congrega-
tional Church, on Thursday evening last,
was a very fine affair, and a rich musical
treat seldom enjoyed by the people of Wes-
ton. The attendance was very large, and
the sum of $66 was realized for admissions,
the Concert being for the'benefit of the
Church. The Weston choir were assisted
by the persons from abroad named in our
last, all under the direction of Mr. Jennings.
After the Concert the singers were enter-
tained for several hours by Mr. A. S. Jarvis,
to whose personal efforts the good success of
the concert was largely due.

_ ing subject, in the Congregational Church
. in Westport, on Friday evening, May 11th.
The learning, taste, and experience of Mr.
Wood afford asure guarantee that the Lee-
ture .will be entertaining as well as instruct—
ive ; and we predict a large audience to hear
' him. The proceeds of the lecture will be
devoted to the erection Of a new Sunday
School Room, for the use Of the Church.
WRev. Alex. McLean, Jr., having i-e-
celved and accepted a call to the Calvary
Presbyterian Church Buffalo, N. Y., has been
dismissed from the Congregational church in
Fairfield, of which he has been pastor for
nine years. '
Gammon—Mrs. William Elliott was
thrown from a carriage a few days since,
and had her right arm br‘oken.
The Borough Treasurer’s Report for last
year, shows that the BorOugh is free from
debt and has a balance of over $100 in the
Treasur . -
Mr. Ioseph E. Sherwood had his right
arm torn to pieces and wrenched out of the
socket, on Sunday week, in the woolen fac-
tory, while showing the picker to some new
hands. He put his hand in the machine to
remove some obstruction, when one of the
new bands started the machine. '
STAMFORD—Stephen Kelly, who was
tried at Bridgeport, for the murder of his
wife in Stamford, .and convicted of man-
slau hter,hasbeon sentenced to‘ ten years’

Rev. Mr. Tatloek of St. Peter’s Church,
Alban , has been called to the Rectorshi p

The Adwam states that Prof. Fox,- of the
children’s Concerts, and who lately married
a beautiful young girl in. Danbury, has been
arressfted for bigamy and is now in the Tombs,
The Stamford capitalists fail to subscribe
for the New Cannan Railroad stock as lively
as hoped for by friends of the Road. They
say they can raise the necessary amount-easy,
but fail to come down with the stamps.
The Glee Club have recently purchased
'a costly piano, and are preparing to give a
ublicConcert. ‘ '
r. Isaac Farrington. butcher, met with a
serious accident on Thursday morning, while
trying to stop a frightened horse. He was
thrown to the ground, and was speechless
when taken up. and severely hurt.

Miss Annie E. Dickinson delivered her
new political lecture entitled “The Parting
of the Ways,” at Seeley’s Hall on Friday
evening last, which was listened to bya
large audience. It is said to have beena
Very able lecture, and President Johnson was
handled without gloves. Thedecture was
given under the auspices (2f the Lyceum As-
sociation, and must have resulted in a deci-
. ded pecuniary benefit to that institution.
DANBURY. Mr. Ira Phillips has gone to
Montana to superintend the working of the
Connecticutand Montana Co. Mines.
The District Schools opened last week

The Tamer says that Miss Maria Beachem,
a young lady living in Grassy Plain,died very
suddenly, on Monday, She has been unwell
for sometime, and on that day complained
oi a severe headache, but was up and about
the house. She had, just. returned from the
yard when she iell. and before aid could be
given she expired. -
We learn that a lady named Hill, residing
mar Brewster Station, died while sitting in
her chair holding her child, on the 18th inst.
