HIS Institution furnishes instruction in
various branches of science. The full
course of study extends through three years.
Pupils after the first year of instruction will
choose whether their attention shall be di—
rected to Chemistry and natural Science, to
En ineering and Mechanics, to Agriculture,
to Ilining and Metallurgy, or to a Select
Course of scientific and literary studies.
Pupils may be received for a partial course
of one or two years in some of the studies
of the School. In Agriculture, a Shorter
course of seven months, duration, is provided
for such as are unable to take a full course.
Special lectures forthose engaged in indus-
trial occupations, will hereafter be announ—
ced. Tuition $100 per year. Explanatory
circulars will be sent on application.

In pursuance of the acts of Congress and
the Connecticut Legislature, this Institution,
having received the proceeds of the sale of
certain public lands, will receive during the
coming year from among the citizens of
this State, fifty-two free pupils—to be select—
ed bv an appointing Board designated by

The Notes of this Third series are precise-
ly similar in form and privileges to the Sev-
‘en-Thirties already sold, except that the Gov-
ernment reserves to itself the option of pay-
ing interest in gold coin at 6 per cent, instead
of 7.3-101hs in currency. Subscribers will de-
duct the interestin currency up to July 15th,
at the time when they subscribe. -
The delivery of the notes of this third se-
ries of the Seven-thirties will commence on
the lat of June, and will be made promptly
and continuously after that date.
The Sligllt change made in the conditions
of this THIRD SERIES affects only the
matter of interest. The payment in gold, if
made, will be equivalent to the currency in-
terest of the higher rate.
The return to specie payments, in the
event ofwhich only will the option to pay
interest in Gold be availed of, would so re-
duce and equalize prices that purchases made
with six per cent. in gold would be fully
equal to those made with seven and three-
tenths per cent. in currency. This is
The Only Loan in Market.
Now ofiered by the Government, and its su-
perior advantages make it the
Great Popular Loan of the People.
Less than $230,000,000 of the Loan au-
thorized by the last Congress are now on the
market. This amount, at the rate at which
it is being absorbed, will all be subscribed
for within two months when the notes will
undoubtedly commanda premium, as has
uniformly been the case on closing the sub-
scriptions to other Loans.
In order that citizens of every town and
section of the country may be afforded fuelli-
ties for taking the loan. the National Banks,
State banks, and Private Bankers through-
out the country have generally agreed to re-
ceive subscriptionsat par. Subscribers will
select their own agents, in whom they have
confidence, and who only are to be respon-
sible for the delivery of the notes for which
they receive orders. '
