“MEDIUMS” Expossn.-—Sixteen re-
spectable Citizens of Glasgow, Scotland,
recently attended several spirit seances,
and give the result Of their investigations
—a perfect OXposition of the humbng.—
Their report says:
The weary work went on from night to
night till the last scene or seanw of all.
On this eventful evening the Spirit of one
gentleman’s father was summoned, and
' in due time it signified its presence by a
“tilting ” of the table. The gentleman
sat opposite the medium, and allowing
the latter to watch the movements of his
hands while he apparently wrote the
words, “ Are you happy?” although in
reality the question written was, “Arc _
you hungry? the spirit, without a mo-
ment’shesitation, said, “I am.” Then
the gentleman wrote down, “ Have you
seen my mother, and is she hungry?”
and the ghost, or rather the medium,
replied, “ I have, and she is.’ Then fol
lowed the question, “ Are all hungry in
heaven ?” and the spirit of his father an-
swered, “ Yes i” Question No. 4 was
then written down in the following shape:
“ Is the medium a gross humbug Z?” and
immediately the spirit rapped out an impa-
tient “ Yes i” and when the question was
repeated a second “ Yes” was returned,
still more amp/ratio than the first. The
questions and answers were then delib-
erately read over in the presence of the
hocussed medium, and the poor man, We
are informed, looked nnutterable things.

FLAxsn s1) Sraur.-—_This excellent reme-
dy for a cough is made thus: Boil one
ounce of flaixseed in a quart of water for
half an hour ; strain and add to the liq-
uid the juice of two lemons, and half a
pound of rock candy. If the cough is
accompanied by weakness and a want of
appetite, add half an ounce of powdered
gum arabic. Let this simmer slowly for
half an hour, stirring it occasionally.—
Take a wine glass full whenever the
cough is troublesome. This syrup has
proved the most efiicacious of cough syr-
ups in the experience of ourselves and
many friends It has even given relief to
consumptive patients, alleviating the
soreness of the chest, and strengthening
the stomach and lungs. We have known
a quart Of it to be taken in the course of
tWenty-four hours with good efi‘ect to
avoid draughts, &c

couldn’t be bought, hence the exposure.
