MI. Betta was born June lst, 1779, and
was marriedJune 26, 1800, to Hannah Bene-
dict, who is still living in the enjoyment of
health and strength unusual for one of her
age, she being now over 84 years of age.
' Out Of eleven children, tea with their
wives are still living; of grand-children
there are thirty-three, eight of whom are
married; and there are ten great-grand-
children. The family numbers at the pres-
ent time seventy-two individuals.
‘ Mr. Betta was truly a patriarch; his ven-
igrrble and peaceful old age was a fitting
close to a useful life. He was widely known
and well beloved for the many virtues that
adorned his Christian character ; and though
never in public life, his death will be felt as
apublic loss. The worth and example of
such afather will be treasured up as a pre-
cious legacy in many-a heart.
