TOR givcs us the advantage of cog-wheels,
without allowing them to clash or ride
each other. Without cog-wheels the whole
strain of forcing the cloth through the ma-
chine is put upon the Iowa roll and the
cloth is made to actin the place ofcog-
wheels to drive the upper roll, causing three
times the'strain upon the lower roll as when
cog wheels with our patent regulator are
used, besides saving the extra strain upon
the cloth. Experience shows that Clothes-
