HE Adirondac is an early grape of rare
. excellence, resembling the celebrated
hot house' grape, Black Hamburg. Skin thin
and brittle; almost pulpless and very sweet;
ripens one or two weeks before the Dela-
ware or Hartford Prolific. It is double the
life wai the same upright life which he led
of: home. The high sense of duty which
prompted him to volunteer his services in
the war for the Union and Constitution,
seemed to be the controlling principle
thronghont his career as a soldier. At the
hottlo of Gettysburg when our brothers and
Iofis‘ owed between our homes and a trait-
orous- foe, he receiveda wound in his left
an... Amputation was performed, but ow-
ing to the fatigucs through which he with
his fellow soldiers had passed previous to
thubattle, and the subsequent exposure, the
wound did not heal. Several days before
his death he became aware of his dangerous
condition, and his last words were those of
[patriot soldier and Christian man. He
,h'ds left to his afflicted friends the legacy Of
