W A severe illness of less than one week’s
duration, severed the brittle thread of life and
laid him low in the grave. Although death
came suddenly and unexpectedly, it found
him ready ; disarmed of its terrors it only serv-
ed to usher his spirit into the abodes of bless-
edness. Charity, amiability and benevolence
were exemplary traits in his character. He
has gone hence in“ youth’s bright summer,”
yet the fruit w asfully ripened for eternity, and
as the sun when sinking appears most beau-
tiful, so the closing days of his life most peace-
ful and serene. In paying this public tribute
to the memory Ofour departed friend and rel-
ative, we deeply sympathize with the bereav-
ed family, but they are supported with the as-
surance that he died with his faith in the
world’s Redeemer. *
