WAt a meeting of the Court of Bur-
gesscs of the Borough of Norwalk, held
March 28th, 1862, the following Preamble
and Resolutions were offered, and on motion
unanimously adopted:
WHEREAS, The Borough of Norwalk has
been at great expense for the support and
maintenance of its Fire Department,which
Department has been at all times at the
service of the whole Town, and
WHEREAS, The Town of Norwalk has re-
fused by its vote to contribute anything to
the support of said Fire Department,
therefore be it
Resolved, That the Fire Engines and other
apparatus belonging to the Borough of N o r-
waik shall not be allowed to be taken with-
out the limits of said Borough, after the 1st
day of Jul. ,1862.» without the consent of the
majority o the Court of Burgesses, except it
be an application for assistance from Stam-
ford, Westport, Danbury, or other- Towns
adjoining Norwalk, which applications will
be romptly responded to.
Resolved, That the above Preamble and
Resolution be published in the Norwalk
Gazette; and that the Chief Engineer of the
Fire Department be directed to furnish a
copy of the same to each of the Engine,
Hose, and Hook and Ladder Companies of
the Borough.
