Chemistry, as applied to the Arts, of the Royal Con-
servatnrlo of Madrid, and ofphysique and Chemistry,
as applied to the Industry and Agriculture of the
country, in the Royal University of this Island, at
present H. M,'s Director of the Institute of Chemical
Investigations, &c., kc.
Do hereby certify,at the request of the house of Cot-
tig & Will, of this place, I have made an analitical ox-
alninatiou of U. Wolfe’s Aromatic Schiedam Schnapps,
with the object of ascertaining ifit contained any sub-
stance noxtous to health, and to inform them as to its
true composition and relative quality with the other
gins that are offered in the market, and the results of
my observations are as follows :—
Udolpllo Wolfe’s aromatic Scllldam schnapps is a
spirituous liquid, of a. very agreeable aromatic odor,
completely transparent and almost colorless, having
only a very slight tint of yellowish gray ; its flavor
is strong and very agreeable to the palate. It marks
20 degrees in Cstier’s alcohol weigher or 52 degrees 5
hundredth in Gay Lussac’s nlcollomctrc. By the disl-
tlllution in o balaluln maria,witll an apparatus consist-
ol‘a glass retort and a recipient surrounded with ice, I
have collected in this recipient an alcoholic liquid with
a very agreeable aroma colnplétcly colorless and trans‘
parent, which marked 90 degrees in Cartier‘s alcoholic
\veigher, or 70 degrees 5 hundredth on Gay Lussac’s ul-
cometre ; and which represented as a whole 57 per
' tent. of aromatic Scbievlam schupps subject to distillaa
