so many choice varieties of trees at, com-
’ i'ii:iiid in the iiurseries, or of fruit on ex-
hibition at our Fairs. The horticultural
societies of Hartford and New Haven
counties are doing much to encourage this
interest, but it langnishes in other parts
of‘ the State. It ought not to languish.
It is important, and it is profitable. If
you cannot pluat an orchard, do what
you can. Plant some trees at least, and
plant them right. Dig deep and wide, and

their roots can spread deep and wide in
rich, mellow soil, and cultivate the land
about them, and they will not keep you
wait-iiig long for your reward. But If
vou plant them without care or prepara-

attractive residence for retiring wealth
and intelligence, and outstripped many of

And why should not every city and vil-
lage in the State imitate the example ?

the symmetrical maple ? Wliy at least

Let us think of this. Let us, if need be
iiivoke the" aid of association. Let us or-
gaiiizc and covenant with each other, to
do it upon our own property ; and to cii-
deavor to induce others to do it upon

this POT.r1SH has for many ycais seen the
necessity of having some reliable standard for
the strengtli of Potash. The adulteration has
become so general, that ithas, notwithstand-
ing its valuable properties, gone nearly out
of use. The Proprietor has taken the respon-
sibility of subscribing his name to every pack-
age, and warrants the strength to be uniform,
and when used always producing the same re-
sults._ Potash many times is adnlterated with
salt. which is destruction in making Soap;
it makes the Ladies say they did not have
good luck, etc. One other reason that Pot-
ash has gone out of use, is, it is so unpleasant
to handle, being put up in wooden casks, and
becoming a livuid in many cases, and very
troublesome to the retailers.
. Now the proprietor first obtains pure Pot-
5151198. always being the same strength, and
,_ producing the same results, and will warrant
it in all cases, if the directions are followed,
to produce double the effect in making soaps,
and all other purposes for which Potash is
used, with full directions for making the best
of Soft, Hard, or Fancy Soaps. It is made
with little trouble, the ley is all prepared in
five or ten minutes.

12 lbs. will make one barrel of beautiful
soft soap. ‘
