there are pictures taken on single glass styled
Amp.-otypes, but are not such, they being on-
ly varnished on the back, and are much more
nerisli-able than the daguerreotype.as the var-
nish will soon crack and destroy the picture-
None are genuine unless hermetrically sealeil
between plates of glass.

this POT./1 SH has for many yea. s seen _the
necessity of having some reliable standard for
the strength of Potash. The adulteratiou has
become so general. that it has, notwithstand-
ing its valuable properties, gone nearly out
of use. The Proprietor has taken the respon-
sibility of subscribing his name to every pack-
age. and warrants the strength to be uniform,
and when used always producing the same re-
sults. Potash many times is adulterated with
salt. which is destruction in making Soap;
it makes the Ladies say they did not have
good luck, etc. One other reason that Pot-
ash has gone out of use, is, it is so unpleasant
to handle, being put up in wooden casks, and
becoming a livuid in many cases, and very
troublesome to the retailers.
Now the proprietor first obtains pure Pot-
ashes, always being the same strength, and
producing the same results,‘and will warrant
it in all cases, if the directions are followed,
to produce double the effect in making soaps,
and all other purposes for which Potash is
used, with'full directions for making the best‘
of Soft, Hard, or Fancy Soaps. It is made
with little trouble, the ley is all prepared in
five or ten minutes.
