After several years experimenting in the manufactui
ing of Gin, 1 fortunately succeeded, in the year 1848, in
making a dircoverv in its manufacture by which it was
deprived of all acrid and inflammatory properties, and
rendered perfectly pure. _
My munufactory is at Schiedam, Holland. After sev-
eral month’s reflection wliiit title to give it, I introduc-
edit to the Anierican public under the name of “ Wolf‘-s
Schiedani Aromatic Schnapps.” Scbiedam is the name

been iutrmiuce_d to the American public and received
with approbation. than the Liquor Mixers ofNew York,
Boston and Philadelpliin, started in pursuit with their
mixed and poisionous stufl‘ under various names 2 Scliie-
dillll Gin, Schiedam Schnapps, London Club House Gina
London Cordial Gin, &c., and in several cases my fable,
have been so perfectly imitated, with only the addition
one few letters to plead a. technical avoidance of the
law. and so carefully prepziredas to impose on careless
purcliasers. I understand a large quantity has been
purchased by the merchants of the Eastern States on
account of the cheupness of the articles. A merchant
who participates indirectl_v in the fraud by selling the
spurious articles, is as much an offender as the princi-
pal who planned the imposition.
I hope every respectable citizen who values the health
of the community in which he iiVeS will aid me in fer-
reting out and exposing the unscrupulous merchant,
who, for the sake ofa few cents. will put in jeopardy
the lives of the community in which he lives. Such
men should be naild to the pillory of popular execu-
tion.

Tuesday Evening, June 30th.
The Steamer will leave Norwalk Bridge at
7 1-4 and South Norwalk at 7 I o’clock on said
evening, proceeding to City Island and re-
turning same eveuinv.

most pleasant and agreeable entertainments
that could be devised. The Committee would
further state that feeling the importance of
sustaining a boat on this route, and apprecia-
ting the exertions and sacrifices of the propri-
etors of the John Hart, to that end propose
this Benefit to aid in liquidating the expenses
(some $500.) incurred by her recent misfor-
tunes in striking the rocks, and they feel con-
fident that the community will cordially res-
pond by alarge turn-out on the occasion.
Tickets for the Excursion, 50 cents, which
may be had at the Book Stores of Knapp dc
Lynes. and A. H. Camp, Norwalk. and at the
Post Office, South Norwalk, and of each mem-
ber of' the Committee‘ To prevent confusion
all are requested to procure their Tickets so
as to give them up on entering the Boat.

Green Sand Marl of New Jersey
HE New Jersey Fertilizer Company is
now prepared to receive orders for their
important manure. For all lands upon which
ashes are beneficial, the Marl is more than a
substitute.
Prof. Cook in his Annual Report to the
Legislature of New Jersey says : “ The value
of these marls is best seen in the rich and
highly cultivateddistrict which has been im-
proved, almost made, by their use, but it
maybe interesting to examine the causes of
their great value in Agriculture, and to com
pare them with other fertilizers. For ‘exam-
ple. the potash alone may be taken at an av-
erage of five per cent. of the whole weight of
the M II], a bushel when dry weighing eighty
pounds. and in the proportion mentioned
would contain four pounds of potash, this is
nearly as much as there is in 9. bushel of un-
leached wood ashes.” And again, it is prob-
able that the great value of the Marl is to be
found in the fact that it contains nearly all
the substances necessary to make up the ash
of our common cultivated plants.
