town except at. the above named Gallery,
there are pictures taken on single glass styled
Ambrotypes, but are not such, they being on-
ly varnished on tbeback, and are much more
perishable than the dagucrrcotype, as the var-
nish will soon crack and destroy the picture.
None are genuine unless bermetrically sealed
between plates of glass.
