HORRORS AOCUMUI..\TING.-—A case of
poisoning has just come to light in Bos-
ton. A telegmpliic dispatch of the lltli
inst., says that developments relating to
the death of J. Gardner, postmaster at
Hing-haiii, have led to the arrest of his
wife, Abigail Gardner, on suspicion of
poisoning him. Dr. C. T. Jackson ana-
lyzed the contents of the stomach of the
deceased, and found arsenic sufficient to
cause death. Coroner Lewis of Hingliain
is holding the inquest. Mrs. Gardner is
about 40 years old, a native of Maine.
Mr. Gardner was highly esteemed, and
the circumstances attending his death
caused much excitement in the communi-
ty.

. depends upon whether she or her husband
perished first. Both sides intend to put
in evidence. of the survivors of the wreck,

can come to a decision. In that event
there would seem to be no way for the
parties but to compromise and share
even, if the law will allow it.
