Green Sand Marl of New Jersey .
HE New Jersey Fertiliier Company is

important manure. . For all lands upon which
ashes are beneficial, the Marl is more than a
substitute.
Prof. Cook in his Annual Report to the
Legislature of New Jersey says: “ The value
of these marls is best seen in the rich and
highly cultivateddistrict which has been im-‘
proved, almost made, by their use, but it
may be interesting to examine the causes of
their great valuein Agriculture, and to com
pare them with other fertilizers. For exam-
ple, the potash alone may be taken at an av-
erage of five per cent. of the whole weight of
the Mirl, a bushel when dry weighing eighty
minds. and in the proportion mentioned
would contain four pounds of potash, this is
nearlyas much as there is in a bushel cinn-
leached wood asheg” And again, it is prob-
‘ able that the great value of‘ the Marl is to be
found in the fact that it contains nearly all
the substances necessary to make up the ash
of our common cultivated plants. ,

THIS institution is now open for the recep-
tion of Machines, Models, Manufactured
Fabrics, Raw Materials for Manufacture, and
all objects of Novelty or Interest connected
with the useful or ornamental arts. It con-
sists of two well-lighted rooms, each 210 feet
by 50,- and 14 feet high, in a substantial new
brick building, centrally located. It is de-
signed to be a permanent Industrial Exhibi-
tion, on the following Terms :
Such articles only will be admitted as are
deemed by, the Superintendent to be of public
interest, and worth paying something to see.
Each exhibitor not o:-cupying more than
three square feet of space, will pay a rent of
$4 per unnnm. and-for each additional square
foot, $1. -This rent will be payable quarterly
in advance. .
For every dollar thus paid, the exhibitor
will receive ten tickets, each giving admission
to one person.
Till the first of April, exhibitors willbe ad-
mitted free of rent, and it will _be at their
option then to continue, on the above terms,
or withdraw. ,
Every exhibitor will be allowed free admis-
sion for himself, and to keep in attendance a
person or persons necessary to take care, of
his exhibition, butnot to introduce visitors
without tickets.
The rooms will be warmed, lighted andkept
in order at the expense of the proprietor.
The price of a single ticket, admitting one
person, will be twenty-five cents.
It is intended to open the Exhibition to the
public as soon as the space is suillciently oc-
cupied, of which due notice will be given.
Those who would secure space, should make
immediate-application, by letter, to the Sn-
