OWING to a misapprehension of the ar-
rangement heretofore made between the
Ladies’ Union and the Institute, the call for
the payment of the annual membership fee in
the latter, on May 1st, 1856, was erroneously
so drawn as to include the Members of the
former.

Notice is therefore hereby given, that the
call before mentioned extends only to those
Members of the Institute who are not Members
of the Ladies’ Union.

FOR years ago this preparation was an ex-

periment. Now the demand for it nearly‘
equals the consumption of all other hair dyes
in existence. The sale for the first 4 months
of this year has been six times larger than du-
ring the same months of 1855. This shows
that even overputfed nostrums cannot check
the progress of an article of transcendant mer-
its. ‘Agents in all parts of the United States
have for many months required more of the
Dye than the proprietor was able to furnish.
He has now, however, greatly increased his
manufacturing facilities, and trusts that there
will be no further cause to complain of short
comings. The pressure of orders is not impres-
sure to be regretted. when due preparation has
been made to meet it as is now the case. The
cause of the vast success of the Excelsior Dye,
may be summed up in 9. few words ; it is the
only article which imparts a color identical
with the natural.black or brown; its effect is
more lasting than that of other Dyes; it is
applied with less trouble, and in a shorter
time. It does not burn the hair, or discolor
the skin; it improves instead of destroying
the hair, and being carefully ‘prepared under
the personal supervision of the proprietor, its
proportions never vary, and the tints it pro-
duces are uniform. Manufactured, sold whole-
