In this work Mr. Fowler gives oil‘ a description of new
mode of building, in which the walls are composed of a
concrete mass of cement, lime, gravel, small stones, and
incfact any material that is at hand. This he claims, is
bctterand cheaper than any material heretofore used,
and to show that this plan is not wholly theoretical, he
gives a plan of four story octagonal house he has erected
for himself after this mode, which has stood the test of
time. We recommend it to all building houses. It is

erty, residing in Union street, Plymouth, states, in a lot-
tor to Professor Holloway, dated November 10th, 1852,-

ings. The attacks left her in a week and debilitated con-
dition, and her bodily health was very much lmpaire<l.—

diminished, and ultimately she was restored to

York Industrial Exhibition.
The Literary portion of the paper will be
prepared under competent Editorial supervision,

ed by the Exhibition, will be occasionally ad-
mitted. It is intended that all the descriptions
and criticisms shall be accurate, and strictly
impartial and independent. The Essays will
be as free as possible from more technicalities,
and every effort will be made to render them
attractive and interesting to the general readers.
The Letterpress will be illustrated by engra-
vings of the most beautiful, interesting, and
suggestive of the various objects exhibited, in-
cluding, as far as possible, all such as may grant‘
ify and instruct. The Rsconn will thus supply
sources of instruction to Artisans and Manufac-
turers of every class, and render the Exhibition
permanently and practically useful, long after
the contents have been dispersed
The I LLUSTRATED Rsconn will be issued week-
ly from the opening to the close of the Exhibi-
tion, and will be completed in twenty-six num-
bers, besides a. probable supplement.
Each number will consist of four double-col-
umned pages of letterpress, four pages of Illus-
trations ; and four pages devoted to the circu-
lars of Exhibitors. Price of Record, $3.
