Letters have been received from Eng-
land, announcing the arrival of the Amer-
ican Arctic Expedition, under command
of Dr. E. K. Kane, U. S. N., at Upper-
navick, in Greenland, and their depart-
ure from {thence to the head waters of
Smith’s Sound. Capt. Inglefield, with
the screw steamer Phtnnix, with stores
for Sir Edward" Belcher’s Squadron,
reached Uppernavick three days after
Dr. Kane’s departure, and says that Dr.
Kane had secured the services of Peter‘
son, the ’Esquin’iaux, interpreter, who
was with Penny "on a. former voyage.-
