it, if the following, from the Detroit Campaign
paper be true :

He planted the seed which took root at an
early day, and has spread with its horrid‘

Michigan and the entire VVest, mnrltin,q
its bloody pat.h with murder and misery
wherever itgoes. We also-notice about
twice a year, it lot of kegs, barrels, and
liquor cusks, cliampaigne baskets, etc.,
landed upon our docks, marked “Lewis
Cass, Detroit.” They contain imported
liquors, and of the choicest kinds. The
last arrival we noticed was about three
weeks since.”
There was a mass meeting of two
thousand friends of General Taylor, at
