ed without leaving the bowels in a constipated
state, so general an objection brought against all
piils. They stimulate every organ in the body
to a healthy state. These Pills bring on a. heal-
thy state, or in other words. their remedial pow-
ers are disclosed by adifferent operation from all
other pills. People generally are led to adopt
erroneous opinions, from perusing the numerous
circulars of Quacks and Humbngs, which incul-
cate the idea that Pills must operate violently,or
produce copious and frequent discharges which
is very detrimental and pernicious in its conse-
quences, and productive of far more mischief
than they are intended to remove. These Pills
operate by a slow and gradual process ; mild, but
powerful enough to bringabout their beneficial
results, without the pernicious and injurious ef-
fects which attend all pills generally, and which
are characterized by the drastic and powerful
operations of them. These pills are perfectly
safe, and may be used with confidence that no
injurious effects will result therefrom, the ingre-
dients being entirely vegetable.
The virtues of Dr. Sweidaur’s Compound
Sarsaparrilla Pill cannot be appreciated only by
those who have used them, their operations be-
ing so admirably adapted to assist nature in car-
ryingoff morbid matter, obstructions, iinpiirities
of the blood, &c. The great superiority of the
Compound Sarsparrilla Pills over all other pre-
parations, is their concentrated form and purity
of extract, and while they eradicate the disease
they invigorate and strengthen the body by their
;,)owerful alterative and tonic qualities, at the
same time purifying the system and producing
new and rich blood, without purging unnecessa-
rily, which makes them peculiarly adapted to
weak and enfeebled persons. These pills are
well suited to those who are inclined to be dropsi-
cal. They will speak their own merits aiter a

I feel it a duty to state, forthe benefit of the
public, the astonishing cure of myself, which is
as follows :—For the last twenty years I have
been troubled with Rheumatism; I could not
walk without canes or crutches. The pain was
excruciating, so much so thatl could not sleep
nights. The disease finally settled in my hip
joint; the thigh became elongated or pushed out
ofits socket, by the pain and inflamation; the
cords became contracted so as to throw my knee
forward, and drew my foot backward, so the
points of my toes barelytouched the ground when
I walked. My health was so much impaired,
I made up my mind that the disease was so
firmly seated, that nothing could benefit me; I
had tried the very best physicians,and all ofthe
sure cures without relief. I was advised by a
friend to try
ROAKE’S IODINE LITIMENT,
\Vhich Iconsented to without faith; but before
I had used one bottle, I found relief—it reduced
the inflamation, and extracted the pain. I con-
tinued to use it freely, for six weeks; the cords
became relaxed, the leg resumed its former ap-
pearance, the pain and inflamation has all sub-
sided, and, in fact, Iain perfectly well. I walk
without cane or crutch, and am attending daily
to my busine-ss,to the joy and comfort of my

I am not given to puffing the various nos-
trums-of the day into existence, or i'aisc my
voice in their favor, yet the serious convictidn
that yours is one of intrinsic merit, and a rea
benefit to the afilicted, induces me to offer iny
humble testimony. I am now fifty six years (Sf
age, and have been afflicted with Rheumatism
for the last ten years. In April last I caught a
very severe cold, which increased my rheiimatic
pains, so that I was confined to the house. I
employed my family physician, who attended
me until the first ofMay, without releiving me
nt all. In fact I grew worse, and so much so, I
was confined to my bed. I continued in this
way for nearly two months, sufferiiig every
thing but death—unable to sleep, raise my arms,
or move, without suffering the most excriitiating
pain. A friend of mine called upon me, who
had been cured with
ROAKE’S IODINE LINIMENT,~
induced me to try it, which I did. The first ap-
plication gave me relief. I continued to apply
it according to directions, and in twelve hours
was completely relieved from pain. I continued
to use it until I had used two bottles, which ef-
fected a perfect cure. I have had no returns of
the pains since, and have attended daily to my
mechanical business. I would not be withou to
un(lei' any consideration, and advise all those
who are thus afilicted to try it, knowing it to be
the only remedy than can be relied on.

My daughter, about seventeen years of age,
was seized about a year ago with a violent af
fection of the Chest and Lungs, attended with
a short, harsh Cough, Pain in the side, weak-
ness and difficulty of breathing, hectic fever,
chills, and other systems of a speedy decline, or

She was very rapidly reduced in strength,
and other remedies proving of no avail. I was
induced to try Buclia11's Hungarian Balsam,
which, I am happy to say, had the desired
effect, and in a few weeks raised her from
the state of dcbility and danger described, to
perfect health. Nothing else, with which I
am acquainted, would, I think, have saved her

is but the half of a 'ce'ry/ small lcaspoonful,
while the dose of that which is sold in large
bottles is nearly a wine g'las§'full. In addition
to Sarsaparilla it contains a. powerful concen-
tration of Mandrake, Burdock,Qneen’s Delight,
Elder, Yellow Dock, Guiacum, aii(l other im-
portant medicaiiients which are not found in
any other preparation.

sential iiigretlieiif in the Gi'aefenberg Sarsa pa-
rilla Coinpoiind, is probably superior to Sai'sa-
parilla itself. I’1'ofcssor Frost ofCliarleston,
S. C., speaks of it as follows in the Southern
Journal of Medicine and Pharmacy :—“ Few
vegetable productions exhibit more power upon
the system generally. So powerfully is its
action exerted upon the capillary and secreting
vessels, in changing their morbid states or con-
ditions and disposing them to a new healthy
action, that it is greatly to be preferred, &c.
&c.” He further adds, “ that it is in chronic
diseases and chronic inflaniniations, and also in
the long train of consequences that follows
syphilis, that its efficacy is best exhibited.”
The superiority of the Grafenberg Sarsapa-
rilly Compound may thus be stated :
1st. It is composed ofa number of the most
efficacious vegetables in the whole range of the
Materia Medica in addition to Sarsaparilla.
2d. These are so highly concentrated that
there are many more doses in the bottle than
in any of the very la rgcst bottles advertised.
3d. This concentration renders it to Sarsa-
parilla what Quiniue is to Peruvian Bark. The
more diluted preparations are no better than
ordinary i'oot—beer; souring on the stomach
and spoiling in the bottles. To use a weak iii-
fusion of Sarsaprilla when a sulphate of the
article may be had, is like taking bark instead
of Quiniue, or like travelling in a scow against
a strong current instead ofa swift steamer.
These things being so, let all who have made
up their mind to use any Sarsaparilla, use that
of tne Graefenberg Company. If is warrcmtccl
to be ten times more qflicacious than any other
known; no matter how large the bottle, or ex-
travagant the advertisement. As

the Gr_aefenberg Vegetable Pills, the Graefen-
berg I-Iealth Bitters, and the Sarsaparilla Coin-
pouud should supercede all others. For uni-
versal use the Pills and Bitters are of incalcu-
lable value. Those who take them need not
fear the enervating effects of the suinme1' which
is at hand.
