The undersigned having heard much re-
specting t-he external application of_ cold
water to the, human body, in cases of- dis
case, being himself lpeciiliarly situated,
takes this method forthe relief of others,
by making known his own experience to
the public. I had sufléred 4-5 years with
severe, -inveterate, ‘he.re'ditary asthma, not
having for 30 years slept in a bed, when l-
was ‘informed by Hon. W. W". Parrott, of
this town, whoihad likewise been su_bject
tothis disease for a long time, that since
he adopted the habit of applying cold‘ wa-
ter externally,'he ‘had not any asthma
whatever, and requested me to do the
same, which I did-,‘and realised the same
«effect: not having had the least asthma
si-nce Imade the first application. Wish-
ing to jtrya third case, and the worstl
co‘uld"find,-I »visited“a ‘man of my acquain-
tance who had not experienced a night of
quiet unbroken rest for-the last 17 years.
He - was greatly debilitated, and when
in’forine'd'~of even a possibility of relief, be
embraced" the opportunity with Zeagerncss.
On him’-also it had’ the same effect; he
now sleeps soundlyjand well-, and his res-
piration is perfectlyfree and easy. ,I next

labored under the complaint, and by the
same means , they are all comparatively
well or in a fair way of beingso. .
