The attempt
of the Democrat. oflast week to heap ridicule
upon him, is about the smallest small potatoe
piece of business that has occurred lately.
‘ But in that branch ofliterat'ure denominated
slang, the Deinocrat stands pro-einineiit in this
state. 'I‘akehim all in all, his like is not to be
found in the whole region of “steady habits.”
It‘.—tho paper—is a sewer through which flows
weekly» :1 thick and muddy -strcani of‘ black-
guardism, filth and slang, which is enough to
taint the -whole ‘ moral atniospliore where its
pcstiferous influence extends. It is too much
for the people to bear patiently.

The Democrat is not only vulgar, it is posi-
tively filthy and obscene. I could prove this
by quoting two articles which recently appeared
in that paper; but Iwill not; they are so iride-
ccnt that they are unfit to be seen ; they would
pollute your columns.

I beg leave to say, in conclusion, that the
editor of the Democrat, if he would be respect-
ed, should shake off his present advises, and
make his paper ii decent one; if not, the party
