ing, and the cold and frosty nights make one

repose. The season seems to be out of joint;
and the disappointment with which we look
for the green meadows, the bursting and fra-
grant blossoms, and the rich fields of up-spriiig-
ing grain, makes man feel that he too is out of

made to visit this place again about the 20th
prox. and give our citizens an opportunity to

the arrival of the brig Oriole, Capt. Barstow,
from Rio Grande 21st February, we learn that
the Dutch gnlliot Carl Hendrick arrived at. Rio
Grande from Montevideo. That news was
received of a battle having been fought near
Maldouardo between Rivere and Oribo, in
which the latter was victorious. The blockade
of Buenos Ayrcs being vigorously enforced all
communication is cut off by land with Monte-
video.
The New York and New Haven Rail-
road is all under contract with the excep-
tion of five miles, and the road will doubt-
less be completed in the course of a year.
\Ve notice that the contract for grading this
road between Norwalk and \Vestport has been
taken, and the workmen have already coni-
menced their operations on that part of the road
running through South Norwalk.

has been soinewhatless-—none left unsold. Most
of the transactions were at $l,75 a to $5,730 as in
quality.
There can be no possible admission of doubt as
to the fulfilment of all the statements made,
concerning those remarkably judicious and faith-
ful remedies of Capt. Brant the Indian Chief,
for curing Consumption and all diseases of the
skin. The Indians are well known tohave pos-
sessed the means of cure, but it was unknown
to the white man until revealed by Brant. Its
far remove from quackery is one of its strongest

Tlie DAILY COURANT will contain du-
ring the ensuing session of the Legislature, such
reports of the proceedings as will make interes-
ting to all who wish to become acquainted with
the business before the Assembly. The reports
will be as impartial as possible, and the line of
truth and propriety will be strictly adhered to.
The paper will be furnished, duly mailed for
any part of the country, during the session, for
tifry cents, or two months. (including the publi-
cation of the laws pass ed during the session.)
for seventy five cents. For $1 it will be sent
three months. Postmasters and others procur-
ing eight; subscribers, and romititug the amount,
‘ (which can generally be done by the Represen-
'tatives,) shall receive the paper gratis for two
months.
N. B. The paper will contain the proceed
ings ofthe day previous to its date, and will be
put in the Post Office in time for the earliest:
