Plainjield Bank, N. J.—This loco foco con-
cern, owned and controlled by Moses Y. Beach
of the N. Y. Sun, has been stopped by act ofthe
Legislature of New Jersey. The bills,.which
were of the smaller denominations, have flood-
ed the country as well as city, and we doubt not

has been repealed by a unanimous vote of both
houses. ‘\Vlien the news reached the city of
New York, the Sun ofiice was at once surroun-
ded by a numerous body of the sufferers, most-
ly ofthe working classes, and it was feared that
violence would be committed. A bevy ofthe
police, however, preserved the peace.

‘Independent’ or ‘Possum’ Representatives
elected in good part by \Vhig votes to the Leg-
islature of Iowa. A Special Election was or-
dered to fill his place, and the result, in view of
the balanced state of parties, and the vehement
charges of the Regulars that the Possums be-
trayed their constituents by voting with the
Whigs, was regarded with deep interest. It
has transpired, and nobly sustains the course of
pains, so that I was confined to the house.
