and Freémen of the Borough of Norwalk,
lst. That there shall be annually chosen by
ballot at the annual meeting of tire Freeman of
said Borough. or at a meeting held by a(l_]our.n-
ment from the annual meeting, or at a special
meeting warned and holden for that purpose. 011
or before the fifteenth of January in each year,
three Assessors for the purpose ofmaking the
assestnent list herein after mentioned. and three
suitable persons to act as a board of relief to
reviseand perfect the said assesment list. And
said assessors before entering upon the _dunes of
their appointment. shall take the following oath
to wit: “You do solemnly swear that you
will faithfully and impartially exectite the do-
ties of an "assessor for the Borough of Norwalk
{hr the year ensuing. so help you God ;" stud
oath to be administered by any Justice of the
Peace, res_idin,g in said Borough; and the per-
sons so appointed members ofthe board of re-

of this State from taxation, shall not be inciti-
ded in said list.
5th. And be it further ordained. That at or
after the expiration of fifteen days. from and
aftertlie time when said assessors are required
to lodge said list and said abstract in the
keeping of the Clerk of said Borough. the
members of said Board of Relief, shall meet
in some suitable place in said Borough, having
given ten days notice of the time and place of
their said meeting. by posting the same on the
sign post in said Borougb,and shall receive
said lists and said abstract from the clerk. or
Warden of the borough. and shall proceed to
befifall appeals from the doings of the asses-
sors in relation thereto; and shall have power
to revise said lists and to increase. diminish, ad-
just, equalize and correct the same; and said
Board‘ofReliefin revising and altering said lists
shall have such powers in relation thereto as are
granted to, and be subject to, such restraints and
duties as are imposed upon the Boards of Re-
liefof-the severa-l towns in this State. relative
to the lists of their respective towns. by the
existing statute laws of the State. And when
said Board of Reliefhave revised and perfected
said lists, they shall alter said abstract in
conformity therewith. shall endorse their,ap-
proval thereon, and lodge the same, with said
lists. again in the custody of said Clerk. or
Warden, to be the assesment list ofsaitl Borough
and the rule for the apportionment of the taxes
levied thereon. among and to the several indi-
viduals liable to be taxed in said Borough ; and
the rate bills shall be made out therefrom by the
