ofa suggestion from the American Institute
——that :1 simple, portable, and low priced Fur-
nace was wanted by Farmers, for boiling and
steaming food. preparing maple sugar, ac., and
for many mechanical purposes.
It is so formed that a space from one to two
ncbes is left between the boiler and the casing
hat surrounds it, causing the beat in its passage
to the pipe. toencircle all parts ofthe boiler even
to its upper edge.

A good.cbeap. and durable boil-:r has lpng
been sought for by,tlie farmer.
It will be readily perceived that it has many
advantages over those set in brick. It takes
up but little -room. is light. and may be placed
on the floor, and requires no foundation to sup-
port it. Besides being portable, it may be re-
moved from place to place, as occasion or con-
venience may require ; two men are sufficient
to remove it. It can be rriade to boil full of veg-
etables in 30 minutes, and the second filling in
:20 minutes. Another very importantconsidcra-
tion. and which will go far to recommend it is,
that it requires much less wood than one of the
same size and form set in brick. Although
procure it,
ms for steaming has been made, which may be
used with the boiler. It consists of 8 large box
placed on a strong bcnch——nlong side the fur-
nace, a part oftlie bottom ofthe box. correspond-
ing in size and form with the top ofthe boiler. is
filled with holes. the lirl or cover is provided
with side pieces that shot over the sides of the
box when closed. antl when open, serves as a
trough to slide the vegetables intoa mashing tub.
To use the steamer. it is merely necessary to
turn the box on to the caldron, which should be
about two tliirtls filled with water. The for-
nace and boiler is well calculated for an ordi-
nary washing boiler. the halfbarrel size is fitted

arrangement the beat after acting uponthe boil-
ers is made to return into the stove to heat the
oveti, passing over more than three times the
surface that it does in the Premium Flues before
entering the pipe.
On account ofihe even and sufficient baking,
the little trouble in attendance, with their econ-
omy in fuel, these fliies are perferred by those
who have bad the good fortune to use them.
It is the only arrangement of Ilues by which
baking can be done in a stove as well as in a
brick oven.
Other improvements have been introduced.
The stove has combined with its front an irn-
proved Roaster, with portable jambs. patened
in 18-10. The front oftlie wood stoves, both
Premium and Fuel Saver, are so arranged that
by cliauging the position of the front doorit will
form a shelf, under which broiling may be
dtine. and the smoke and fumes be conducted
in o the stove.
All the stoves have improved dropoven doors.
