EURNACE
HIS article was constructed in consequence
ofa suggestion from the American Institute
—-tliat a simple. portable, and low priced Fur-
nace was wanted by"“'Farttiers,*~for boiling,.ftn"il
steatniog food. preparing maple sugar, &c., and
for many mechanical purposes.
It is so formed that a space from one to two
nches is left between the boiler and the casing
'hat surrounds it, causing the heat in its passage
to the pipe, tociicirclc all parts oftlie boiler even
to its upper edge.
The American Institute awarded a silver
medal at their late fair.
A good, cheap, and durable boiler has long
been sought for by the farmer.
It will be readily perceived that it has many
advantages over those set in brick. It takes
up but little room, is light, and may be placed
on the floor, and requires no foundation to sup-
port it, Besides being portable, it may be re-
moved from place to place, as occasion or con-
venience may require ; two men are stitlicient
to remove it. It can be made to boil full of veg-
etables in 30 minutes, antl the second filling in
20 mint.-tes. Another very importatit considera-
tion, and which will go for to recoirimend it is,
that it requires mticli less wood than one of the
same size and form set in brick. Although
wood may be plenty, it takes time and labor to
proctire it,
Sitice the first introduction a simple appara-
tus for steaming has been made, which may be
used with the boiler. It consists of a large box
placed on a strong bench-—along side the fur-
nace, a part ofthe bottom ofthe box. correspond-
ing in size and form with the top ofthe boiler. is
filled with holes. the lid or cover is provided
with side pieces that shut over the sides of the
box when closed, and wltenopeu, serves as a
trough to slide the vegetables intoa mashing tub.
To use the steamer, it is merely necessary to
turn the box on to the caldron, wliicli should be
about two thirds filled with writer. The for-
nace and boiler is well calculated for an ordi-
nary washing boiler, the half‘.iarrel size is fitted

I HFRRBY CERTIFY that my daughter has
been afllicted with sick headache fortlie space
ofabout 20years—tlie attacks occurring once in
about two weeks frequently lasting 24 hours
during which time the paroxysmsliave been so
severe,as apparently soon to deprive her of life.
And after having tried almost all other rente-
dies in vain I have been induced as a last resort
to try Spolin’s Headache Remedy as sold by
you ;and to my great disappointment enjoy of
herself and all her friendsfouud very material
relief from the first dose of the medicine, she

PON the Petition of Eliza Bates of Stam-
ford. in said county, praying for a bill of
divorce from her husband. Lewis H. Bates,
late of said Stamford, now a resident of Liver-
pool, in the Kingdom of Great Britain. as per
said petition on file. dated July 5th, A. D. 1841,
may more fully appear.
It appearing to this Court, that the said Lewis
H. Bates. is now residing at the city of Liver-
pool, in the Kingdom of Great Britain. and
cannot be served with actual notice ofthe pen-
dency ofsaid petition without great expense-—It
is ordered, that said petition be continued to the
next term ofthis court, to be holder: at Fairfield,
within and for said county, on the second Tues-
day of February next, and that notice of the
pendency thereofbe given to the said respondent,
by publishing an attested copy of this order in
the Norwalk Gazette. and in the Fariner’s Ad-
vocate, two news papers published in said
Fairfield county, six weeks successively, imme-
diately after the rising of this court : anti that
one of said news papers containing a copy of
this order, be deposited in the Post Office in the
city of New York, postage paid,directed to the
said respondent, at said city ofLiverpool, on or
before the 1st day of November next.
