Ilfonrlerful cure of C'onsumption.—Altliough
Dr. Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort has found
hundreds of advocates, and has produced so
large a number of Testimonials in its favor, I
cannot withhold my small meed of praise. Be-
ing predisposed to consumption, both from pe-
culiar formation and hereditary transmission, I
tried every means to check this disease, and
strengthen a naturally weak constitution. I
spent two years at Pisa, one in Rome. two in
Florence, and another in the south of France,
seeking, meantime. the advice of the best phy
sicians. Two years since I returned to this
country in about the same situation as when I
left. I had seen in the reading rooms of Eu
rope much said in favor of Dr. Taylor’s Balsam
of Livcrwort, and as soon as I arrived in this
city, I us-:-id it, and in three months I was so
well I concluded I couldssafely pass the winter
here, and did so. I have used an occasional
bottle now and then during the time. but am
now in as good health as possible. My coiigli

ofa suggestion from the American Institute
--that a simple. portable, and low priced Fur-
nace was wanted,byj§l*‘ariiicrs, for boiling and
steaming food, preparing maple sugar, &-.c., and

for many mechanical purposes.

It is so formed that a space from one to two
inches is left between the boiler and the casing

hat surrounds it, causing the heat in itspassage
go the pipe. to encircle all parts ofihe boiler even
,0 its upper edge.

The American Institute awarded a silver
medal at their late fair.

A good. cheap. and durable boiler has long
been sought for by the farmer.

It will be readily perceived that it has many
advantages over those set in brick. It takes
up but little room. is light, and may be placed
on the floor, and requires no foundation to sup-
poll it, Besides being portable, it may be re-
moved from place to place, as occasion or con-
venience may require; two men are sufficient
to remove it. It can be made to boil full of veg-
etables in 30 minutes, and the second filling in
20 minutes. Another very important considera-
tion, and which will go far to recommend it is,
that it requires much less wood than one of the
same size and form set in brick. Although
wood may be plenty, it takes time and labor to
procure it,

Since the first introduction a simple appara-
tus for steaming has been made, which may be
used with the boiler. It consists of a large box
placed on a strong bench——along side the fur-
nace, a part ofihe bottom ofihe box. correspond-
ing in size and form with the top of the boiler. is
filled with holes. the lid or cover is provided
with side pieces that shut over the sides of the
box when closed, and when open, serves as a
trough to slide the vegetables intoa mashing tub.

To use the steamer, it is merely necessary to
turn the box on to the caldron, which should be
about two thirds‘ filled with water. The for-
nace and boiler is well calculated for an ordi-
nary washing boiler, the halfbarrel size is fitted
