hundreds of advocates, and has"p'ro’duced so
large a number of Testimonials in its favor. I
cannot withhold my small meed ofpraise. Be-
ing predisposed to consumption, both from pe-
culiar formation and hereditary transmission. I
tried every means to check t.his disease, and
strengthen a naturally weak constitution. I
spent two years at Pisa, one" in Rome. two in
Florence, and another in the south of France,
seeking. meantime. the advice of the best phy-
sicians. Two years since I returned to this
country in about the same situation as when I
left. I had seen in the reading rooms of En
. rope much said in favor of Dr. 'I‘aylSr's Balsam
of Liverwort. and as soon as I arrived in this
city, I used it, and in three months I was so
well I concluded I could safely pass the winter
here, and did so. I have used an occasional
bottle now and then during the time. but am
now in as good health as possible. My cough
has wholly ceased. and my lungs h'lS every
feeling of health. Dr. G. Smith, and Dr. Post,
of this city, were my physicians, and now say

claimdntsfor their original proprietorship ofthis
medicine. and can scarcely repress the indigna-
tion we feel at the imposition practised upon us
by Mr. J. Burriu. of No. 12 Gold street, who
introduced to our clerk as the veritable Dr. Geo.
Taylor. a person by the nameof \Vi|son. Mr.
B. afterwards admitted that it was not Dr. Tay-
lor. and that the papers exhibited to us signed
Geo. Taylor. M. D. were not signed by him at
all. but were writteti by this Dr. Wilson. by vir-
tue. as was alleged, ofa power of attorney, giv-
‘en by Dr. Taylor. out which he had never seen
no more than he had the person professing to
act under such authority. We have conversed
with the genilemahly proprietor ofthc Balsam
of Liverwort.375 Bowery. who has been known
to us as the advertiser and vendor ofthis medi-
cine for seven years past. and who is still at the
same place,-—and he has given us the inosl
complete testimonials of his right. and that all
others who offer the article for sale, (except man-
ufactured by him) are practising imposition up-
on the public. .
It will be seen by the article below. that we
are not the only conductors of the press who
have been imposed upon by Buriiit and his as-
sociates. We have directed all advertisements
from their concern to be discontinued from our
columns; and if other editors are imposed on in

are compelled, once more. and we hope for the
last time, to allude to the claims of two cop-
iending parties, selling the invaluable medicine
of 'l‘aylor‘s Balsam of Liverwort. \V_c have
been led into this controvers_v—this trouble and
tlifficully—by the impudent and shallow pre-
tensions of Mr. Wm. J. Burriti, of 12 Gold st.
-in. ho displayed to us a number of documents
purporting to have been signed by the identical
George Taylor, whose name the medicine in
question bears. giving him atitliorily not only to
sell the medicine——but authority to him alone;
and further to use and sign his name for all pur-
poses connected with the Balsam of Liverwort.
We are now perfectly satisfied that the said
George Taylor never gave Burritt the use of
his signature. at any iinie. or under any circum-
stances. We are also saiisfied.~and the more
so after the perusal of Burritt's documentary
humbug. that the only place to get the genuine
article of 'l‘aylor’s Balsam of Liverwort. is at
375 Bowery. We believe the original recipe is
there—and there only. One word more, and
ourtaek is done. There is no such person at
3 -1-2 Chamber street as George Taylor. M. D.
as represeuledin Burritt's advertisements. We
havc made personal application at this place,
and satisfied ourselfofthe fact. Now to cut the
matter short. we have requested our publishers
to take out these fraudulent advertisements from
the columns of the Planet. and it will be seen
that they have complied with the reqtiesi: and
all editors of papers will do well to follow our
example. by ceasing at once to give currency to
the pretensions of a man capable of practising

injured by taking the stuff made there in imita-
tion of this medicine. Her hiisband analysed

Tribunal that the Vegetable Oil. of his compo-
bair, and preventing its fall, by fortitying the
decayed part. (the effect ofaromatic ingredients
which have been found in its composition by the
chemist Don Francisco Suarez) we hereby re-
commend its use, not as a specific, but as a good
and useful remedy for persons repairing it, whose
hair is in a state of decay from sickness or other
