Dr.-Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort has found
hundreds of advocates, and has produced so
large a number of Testimonials in its favor, I
cannot withhold my small meed ofpraise. Be-
ing predisposed to consumption, both from pe-
culiar formation and hereditary transmission, I
tried every means to check this disease, and
strengthen a naturally weak constitution. ‘I
spent two years at Pisa, one in Rome. two in
Florence, and another in the south of France,
seeking, meantime. the advice of the best phy-
sicians. Two years since I returned to this
country in about the same situation as when I
left. Iliad seen in the reading rooms" of Eu
rope much said in favor of Dr. Taylor’s Balsam
of Liverwort, and as soon as I arrived in this
city, 1 used it, and in three months I was so
well I concluded I could safely pass the winter
here, and did so. I have used an occasional
bottle‘ now and then during the time. but am
now in as good health as possible. My cough
has wholly ceased, and my lungs has every

Since our former article, we have been to the
trouble ofexamining into the merits of the rival
claimants for their original proprietorship of this
medicine, and can scarcely repress the indigna-
iioii we feel at the imposition practised upon us
by Mr. J. Burritt, of No. 12 Gold street, who
introduced to our clerk as the veritable Dr. Geo.
'I‘aylor, a person by the name of Wilson. Mr.
B. afterwards adiniited that it was 710lDl'. Tay-
lor, and that the papers exhibited to us signed
Geo. Taylor, M. D. were not signed by him at
all, but were written by this Dr. \Vilson, by vir-
tue, as was alleged, ofa power of attorney, giv-
en by Dr. Taylor, out which he had never seen
no more than he had the person professing to
act under such authority. We have converscd
with the genilemanly proprietor of the Balsam
of Liverwort, 375 Bowery, who has been known
to us as the advertiser and vciider oftliis medi-
cine for seven years past, anti who is still at the
same place,—and he has given us the most
complete testimonials of his right. and that all
others who offer the article for sale, (except man-
ufactured by him) are practising imposition up-
on the public.
It will be seen by the article below, that we
are not the only conductors of the press who
have been imposed upon by Buriitt and his as-
sociates. \Ve have directed all advertisements
from their concern to be discontinued from otir
columns; and if other editors are imposed on in
this way it will not be otir fault.—N. Y. Signal.
T]-IE BALSAM or LIVERWORT AGAlN.—We
are compelled, once more, and we hope for the
last time, to allude to the claims of two con-
tending parlies, selling the invaluable medicine
of 'I‘aylor's Balsam of Liverwort. \Ve have
been led line this coniroversy—ihis trouble and
dilIiculty—by the impudeni and shallow pre-
tensions of Mr. VVm. J. Burritt, of 12 Gold st.
—who displayed to us a number of documents
purporting to have been signed by the identical
George Taylor, whose name Ilie medicine in
question bears, giving him authority not only to
sell the medicine—but authority to bini alone;
and further to use and sign his name for all pur-
poses connected with the Balsam of Liverwort.
We are now perfectly satisfied that the said
George Taylor never gave Burritt the use of
his signature, at any time, or under any circum-
stances. We are also satisfied, and the more
so after the perusal of Burritt's documentary
huinbug, that the only place to get the genuine
article of '.l‘aylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, is at
375 Bowery. We believe the original recipe is
there—-and there only. One word more, and
ourtask is done. There is no such person at
3 1-2 Chamber street as George Taylor, M. D.
as represented in Burritt’s advertisements. We
have made personal application at this place,
and satisfied ourselfof the fact. Now to culthe
matter short, we have requested our publishers
t.o take out these fraudulent advertisements from
the columns of the Planet, and it will be seen
that they have complied with the request: and
all editors of papers will do well to follow our
example, by ceasing at once to give currency to
the pretensions of a man capable of practising

tion!—You cannot be too cautious of whom
you purchase this medicine. There are many
imitations. We especially notice that made at
31-2 Chamber street. The proprietor of this
a highly respectable physician of this city was
injured by taking the stuff made there in imita-
tion of this medicine. Her husband analysed
it, and found it to be spurious, poisonous. Be-
ware then and buy none that does not come from
375 Bowery. This is vegetable.

quence of the bad materials made use ofin the
preparation of iliis medicine by the person who
has heretofore conducted the business at 375
Bowery, and other suflicient reasons, the origin-
al Proprietors and Inventor has it now prepared
under his own inspection; and for the security
ofthe public has taken out a Copy Right ofthe
Label and Wrapper, two certificates of which
must accompany each bottle, in the words fol-
lowing: "Entered according to the act of Con-
gress in the year 1840, by George Taylor, in
-ilie Clerk’s office of the District Court of the
United States for the Southern District of the
State of New York.” All preparations of the
Balsam of Liverwort under my name, not ac-
companied with certificates of copy right, are
unauthorised and spurious, and a suitable re-
ward will be paid for such proof as will lead to
the conviction of any person who signs my
name to any paper relating to my Balsam of
Liverwort. And notice is hereby given, that
F. A. Thayer, of375 Bowery,in the city of New
York, who has heretofore corresponded and
transacted business in the name of George Tay-
lor, M._D. is no longer authorised, but is spe-
cially forbidden to make use of my name in any
manner, in connection with my Balsam of Liv-
erwort.
The action oftliis medicine is to.aid nature in
all her salutory efforts. and where lhe digestive
organs are not filled with bile, acidity. or other
impurities, so that neither foocfiior medicine can
be assimilated or taken intotlic system, the Bal-
sam is so congenialto the laws ofli.'e and health
that the sick are cured, and the well made bet-
ter by it.

This medicinal preparation appears to have es-
tablished a very enviable reputation, and as a
consequence, there is rivalry in the sale of it,
each claiming to be the genuine establishment.
By reference to the adv. of Dr.Taylor himself in
another column, it will be seen that his only.au-
thorized agent is Mr. Burritt, 12 Gold st. who
by the way, has shown us the legal documents in
proof oflhis fact. As the public are at all times
liable to imposition by spurious preparations of
any really good article, we are induced to add
our opinion that the Balsam obtained of Mr. B.
may be depended ii pon as genuine. It is hard-
ly necessary to add that the inventor of a really
useful medicine must be a skillful and experi-
enced physician and those who make use of his
remedies will doubtless find their account in

RESURRECTION OR PERSIAN
PILLS.
THESE pills raise from the greatest weak-
ness, disiress, and suffering, to a state of
strength, health, and happiness. The name of
these pills originated from the circumstance of
the medicine being found only in the cemetries
ofPersia. This vegetable production being of
a peculiar kind, led in experiments as to its
medical qualities and virtues. In half a centu-
ry it became an establisiied medicine for the
diseases ofthat country, The extract of this
singular production was introduced into some
aris of Europe in the year 1783, and used by
many celebrated physicians in curing certain
diseases, “here all other medicines had been
used in vain. Early in the year I792. the ex-
tract was combined with a certain vegetable
imported from Dura Baca, in the East Indies,
and formed into pills. The admirable effectjof
this compound upon the human system, led phy-
sicians and families into its general use. Their
long established character, their universal and
healing virtues, the detergent and cleansing
qualities of their specificial action upon the
glandular part ofthe system, are such as will
sustain their reputation and general use in the
American Republic.
