recently arrested in Philadelphia for forgery, has
been apprehended in New York. His detec-
tion was owing to a letter written by him to Dr.
Eldridge, which was intercepted. The name
of tliisindiviciual is Tompkins I’. Fellows—lic
was taken while inquiring for a letter at the
post oliice. He denied any acquaintance with
Eldridge, and refused to answer any qucsiioiis.
He was conimitted for trial.

mor of the celebrated author Charles Dickens,
most of whose writings have appgared under

though once contradicted. The Editor of the
