ing predisposed to cotisurnption, both from pe-
culiar formation and liereditary trzinsniission, I
tried every means to check this disease, and
strengthen a. nziturally weak constitution. I
spent: two years at Pisa, otie in Rome. two in
Florence, and another in the south of France,
seeking, meantime. the advice of the best phy-
sicians. Two years since I returned to this
couiitry in about. the same. situation as when I
left. Iliad seen in the readiiig rooms of Eu
rope much said in favor of Dr. Taylor's Balsam
of Liverwort, and as soon as I arrived in this
city, I used it, and in three months I was so
well I concluded I coulil safely pass the winter
here, and did so. I have used an occasional
bottle new and than during the time. but am
new in as good hcriltli as possible. My cough
has wholly ceased, and my lungs has every‘
feeling of licalth. Dr. G. Smith, and Dr. Post,

Label and Wrapper, two certificates of which

lowing: "Entered according to the act of Con-
gress in the year 1840, by George Taylor, in
ilie Clerk’s ollice of the District Court of the
United States for the Southern District of the
State of New York.” All preparations of the
Balsam of Liverwort under my name, not ac-
companied with certjficates of copy right, are
unauthorised and spurious, and a suitable le-
ward will be paid for such proof as will lead to
the conviction of any person who signs my
name to any paper relating to my Balsam of
Liverwort. And notice is hereby given, that
F. A. Thayer, of375 Bowery.in the city of New
York, who has heretofore corresponded and
transacted business in the name of George Tay-
lor, M. D. is no longer authorised, but is spe-
cially forbidden to make use of my name in any
manner, in connection with my Balsam of Liv-
erwort.
The action of this medicineis to aid nature in
all her salutory efforts. and where the digestive
organs are not filled with bile, acidity. or other
impurities, so that neither food nor medicinecan
be assimilated or taken intothe system, the Bal-
sam is so congenialto the laws oflife and health
that the sick are cured, and the well made bet-
ter by it.

tablished a very enviable reputation, and as a
consequence, there.is rivalry in the sale of it,
each claiming to be the genuine establishment.
By reference to the adv. of Dr.Taylor himself in
another column, it will be seen that his'only au-
thorized agent is i\1r. Burritt, I2 Goldst. who
by the wa , has shown us the legaldocuments in
proof ofthis fact. As the public are at all times
liable to imposition by spurious preparationsof
any really good article, we are induced to add
our opinion that the Balsam ob:ained ofMr. B.
may be depended upon as genuine. It is hard-
ly necessary to add that the inventor ofa really
useful medicine must be a skillful and experi-

[T is new little more than 8 years since we dis-
covered from the aborigines of our country,
the medical herb from which the Mother's Re-
lief is made; since that time, we have contented
ourselves in letting it be its own advertiser; and
we should still adhere to this resolution first
formed, if we were not compelled to believethat
there are persons so unprincipled, and sofcckless
’of the health andlives of the unsuspecting apd
confiding, as to endeavor to palm oil‘ under its
name, useless. if not baneful compounds. and

above period, deep rooted prejudices have given

tude, and a wish to extend on their parts. as far
as possible. its benefits. Medical men of high
standing, have had the candor to acknowledge
for once, that their prejudices must be abandon-
ed, and have been advocates for its use.

the medicine being found only -in the cemctrieo
of Persia. This vegetable production being of -
