T is now little more than 8 years since we dis-
I covered from the aborigines of our country,
the medical herb fromwhich the Motlier’s Re-
lief is made; since that time, we have contented

ourselves in letting it be its own advertiser; and
we should still adhere to this resolution" first
formed, if wexvcre not compelled to believethat
there are persons sh unprincipled, and soreckless
of the health and lives of the unsuspecting and
confiding, as to endeavor to palm off under its
name, useless, if not bancful compounds. and
thus not only disappointing thejust expectations
of those who use it, but we fear, doing in many
cases. much injury. -

As we are informed that there are such com-
pounds now offered at various._placeS. 80!] by
different persons, we would caution all who are
interested, to be particular to inquire for ‘“ Bar-

person except they can show a certificate ofagen-

larged upon in the form of a newspaper adver-
tisemen:, permit us to say that all who have the
genuine article for sale, are also furnished with a
pamphlet for gratuitous distribution, wherein the
subject is more fully discussed, in which, its
“morlus operand?’ is demonstrated, to be upon
true Physiological data. operating upon the sys-
tem only by restoring the deranged functions to
their natural condition; allaying the febrile and
irritable symptoms, thus aiding and assisting
nature in her efibrt to prepare the system for the
ant change about to lake place. This
pamphlet will be given to all who wish, but it is
intended to be read only by those who are about
to become mothers or their Physicians.

As we are thus obliged to come before the
public to prevent a wicked and reckless imposi-
tion, we will take the occasion to say, that ifthe
increase of the call for the Mother's Relief.
whereverknown, be any guideto a correct opin-
ion to be formed of the estimation in which it is,
held, we have the satisfaction of believing that
it has been the means of alleviating an llJl1!‘Iil.t3‘
amount of sufliaiiug and of saving many valua-
ble lives. Wherever ithas been used during the
above period. deep rooted prejudices have given
away to candid and thankful expressions ofgraIi-
lude. and a wish to extend on their parts. as far
as possible, its benefits. Medical men of high
standing, have had the candor to acknowledge
for once, that their prejudices must be abandon-
ed, and have been advocates for its use.
