HE inhabitants ofthe town ofNorwalk and
its vicinity are informed that the subscrib-
ers have in operation a machine of the 8b_0V6d6-
Beription. All those interested are ttfvtted to
call and examine the same at the fool Of Mill
Hill. It has long been practiced in England,
and iii most of the large cities in this country. to
bake or kiln dry feathers when new, which
serves to preserve them from the attacks of moth
and other insects, by destroying the fleshy aml
gum like substance which atlheresto them when
taken from the fowl. It also rids new feathers
of any bad smell which will for a long time per-
tain to them. All feathers that have been baked
are flood in a good state of preservation where
they have been in use for many years. while on
examination it is found that feathers that have
been in use for threeor more years, without bak-
ing. are in three cases out of four eaten by in,-
’set.-ts. in a greater or lesser degree.
By the process used irtour machine,old feath-
ersare cleansed front dust and dirt. and are re-
stored to lifeand elasticity. and are left in a per-
fect state of preservation. Beds can be taken in
the morning and returned in the evening.
