weeks since. news was received fi'om Havan-
na that a vessel bound from Havanna
-to 1\'envit4s, Cuba, with a load of dry
goods, passengers, and about filty slaves,
had been taken by the slaves, who over-
.pO\\'et‘ed the whites, murdered most of
them, and took pOSS:‘SSlOII ofthc vessel. We
next heard of her last week, when two or
three vessels on ourconst wereboardt-d by a
.suspici:,tns looking schooner, manned with
blocks, and short of water and provisions.
So strange was the conduct of her crew that
she was suspected of piracy and shunrretl ac-
cordingly. Sever -1 vessels were sent otrt in
quest of .her—-she having been seen off Vir-

on Sunday by the Government surveying
.brig VVashington, Capt. Gedney, manned
principally by boys. The revoltcd slaves
had set _-ail for the coast of Africa, but ap-
pear to have been ignorant of their course,
or driven on otrr coast by a scarcity of
bread and water. She had touched near
Montauk Point for water, just before she was
taken. The negroes made no resistance,
though their leader jumped overboard, and
attempted to escape " Two white men were
found in her, and one of them the owner of
the slaves, who had been spared. Sickness
had made great ravages among the negroes,
‘two of whom have died since their recaptrrrt-.
It is reported that there were money and
_j-swels on board to the. value of $40,000.
The vessel is-now in custody of the U S.
Marshall for Connecticut, awaiting the ac-
,tion of oirr government. She will doubtless
be given up to the authorities of Cuba, and
the negroes have to take their trial for pi-

of Dauphin county have found a true bill
arr-inst three of the foremost actors in the
Harrisburg disturbances of last winter on
-the organization of the Legislature. This
has been quashed in some wiry by Judge
Porter‘, IJDCEIIIS.‘ the Attorney General had
notysnbmitted any complaint against the per-
-sons indicted. The Grand Jury thereupon
presented the Attorney General for misde-
*.'n<-anor in ofiice, and also presented the
“ Iron Gray,” a Porter journal, as a nuisance.

prcscntiricnts, as the Attorney General will
