Gcomocs Naws.—-Information has been re-
ceived from the interior of the State of New
York of the most signal triumphs in towns which
have heretofore given large majorities for the
Jackson candidates, have now given equal, and
in many instances, even greater majorities for the
anti-Jackson candidates. The people begin to
perceive that a different state of‘ things is imperi-
ous, orour once prossperous and happy Republic,
for the establislimentjof which our sires sufi'ered
and bled, and laid down their lives, will be con-
verted into one of the most despotic establish-
ments on earth, and American citizens, like the
subjects of the Autocrat, become abject slaves.
But the hitherto latent spirit is becoming free,
and America shall continue to be the wonder and
admiration of the world. The friends of the
Constitution have succeeded in Rhinebeck. Red
Hook, Hyde Park, Fislikill, Coiirtlandt, West-
chester, York Town, Newhurg, Hudson, Cleve-
nick, and Schcnectady,—The Courier & Enqui-
rer states, “The counties of Albany, Rensselaer,
Saratoga, Green, Colutnhia, Dutchess, Orange,
and probably Westchester, each of which last
year went for Jackson and the Regency, have
this year elected flnti-Regency Supervisors ! As

of the eighteen towns composing that county,

The votes for Governor and Lieut. Gov-
ernor, will be found in the table. The vote
for Lieut. Governor is a suflicient comment
upon the calumny recently put forth in the
Herald of Freedom. The freemen of this
town have “vetoed” the calumny, its author,
and all concerned.

countrymen, Irish as well as American. He

rers of’ Gen. Jackson, bttt the recent course of

the military chief of a republican people, is too we 1",,

grossly outrageous upon the laws and constitu-
tion of the land, for any honest man tojustify;
and Dr.McNeven finds it impossible to go no far-
ther with him. He has therefore come out
frankly and unqualified in opposition to the dan-
gerous and alarming acts ofusurpution, in which
he has lately indulged."

On the preceding page will be found a letter
from Dr. Macneven; it evinces in its author,
soundness of mind, honesty of principle, and it
willbe found to amply repay an attentive pe-
