dy’s drawing her dagger, and threatening

the not. However, on all future occasions,
he must carry her slippers, and ask her leave
to enter the room where she sits, and ob-
tain her permission to sit down, and he
must creep into the nuptial bed from the
foot.———He is to have no other wife in her
place; all preceding ones are divorced, and
all concubines are dismissed prior to the
iiiarriage. A palace is now preparing on
the Bosphorus for the ‘happy pair’ where
they are to live one month together, and
then the husband is to go to a distant em-
ployment, and the lady becomes emancipa-
ted from father and liusbaiirl’s power.
Cape dc Verd Islan:1s.—VVe understand
that letters are in the city dated at the Cape
dc Verd Islands I0th Dec., announcing that
the whole. archipelago of those islands had
proclaimed the queen Donna Maria II. and
the constitutional charter. These events
occurred in the capital on the 23d Septem-
ber last,iri the island de Fego on the 7th
Oct. following, and in Bruvor on 8th of the
same month. The other islands had done
the same. The Governor, Don Duarte dti
Soucha, brother to the Governor of Madei-
ra, had been deposed, and with about twen-
ty other deposited authorities, were shipped
off to Lisbon on the 24th Oct. All those
persons who had been banished to these Is-
lands for political opinions, had also return-
ed to the mother country.
The government general was,meauwhile,
entrusted to Gregorio Freire d’Audrade and
to the Onvidor Antonio de Britto Lagos.
In the other islands the former officers re-
mained acting, having either aided in the
restoration or made no oppositioii—-1V. Y.])a
