It will be recollected that several months
since we gave ottr readers a minute descrip-
tion ofa new invention for setting and distrib-
uting Iypes, and taking the intpressionon pa-
per, by Dr. Church, a resident in Euglar'id,but
El native of this country. Some time having
elapsed without hearing any thing further of
this invention we began to fear the plan had
failed, but in one ofMr. Carter’s latest letters
front Europe, he gives the following descrip-
tion of it, having, while on his visit at Birnt
iuglittm, had an opportunity of examining the
wltolc apparatus.

Mr. C. called on Dr. Church, in company
with four yankees, and in a few minutes the
party was ittvitcd to accompany ltiin to the
building, where (says.t"\lr. Citrter) “ ltis inven-
tiotr is in the ftill title of successful experi-
tttent.”

“ After severitlyears ofsevere study and la-
bor, he has ftilly sttcceeded in lti_s plans, the

ked to me, that it is the tnost perfect utachinc

wider experience in tttechauics, or are better
