Mr. _Patrick Vtfilson, of Natchez, who had been

and was about the lastot'October returning home
in a boat on the Ohio river, when the slaves rose

of the ncgroes with the boat arrived at \-Vheeling
IlC.Xt rnorning. and stated that their master went
oil with two negro men. The body of Mr. VVil.
son has been found in the river-—-it appeared as if
he had been struck on the head with an axe...

Plantor, invented by Andrew Cock,Esq. ofFlush-
ing, (L. I.) which is managed with one man and
horse, and plants an acre of corn in an hour.
A Pistol with seven barrels, so constructed as
to discharge seven balls successively with one
loading and priming, was presented at the late
exhibition at Brighton. Its effect was tried. and
it was deemed ,by military gentlemen present, an
vice as a boarding pistol. But not being an in-
strument of use in Agriculture, it did not obtain

A Miss Mary Roberts, aged 13, was recently
burnt to death in Maryland, by her clothes catch-

in the Persian Gulf, during a terrible squall, an
out of 83 persons, only 4 were saved. -
The schr. Augustus. on her passage from Bos-
ton to Philadelphia. was run agalrist during a vio-
lent squall on'the 25th ult. by the schr. Only Son.
and sunk in about 20 rninutes. The captain and
crew savecl themselves by jumping upon the bow-
sprit of the Only Son ; but a man, named Arm~
strong, his wife, grancl daughter and her infant
child were all drouned. The infant was bornthe
night before the accident. Mr. Armstrong and
family were from Carlislc, in England, and the
lather said he had two sons living in Pliiladelpliia.
The Atiggustus had a cargo valued at $20,000,
consisting of 13 tons quicksilver, wine, Etc.

guira, states, that about 21 days previous to his-
