\Vithin a few weeks specimcnsof theiore refer-
rcd to, and a metalic mass having nearly the color‘
of silver, have been brought to the Westei'n-l‘¢lu-
scum by diii'ei'ent persons. The managers di-
rected me to make an examinationfabf both, and
publish the result ; this 1‘ have done, and the pro-
ducts of analysis as well as the ore may be seen‘
in the Museum.' The oi;é‘is common galena, or’
stilphurct oflead, exactly similar to the mines of’
St. Genevieve, the metalic mass said to have been
extracted from the specimen of the same ore,’
was an artificial alloy of tin and copper nearly in‘
the proportion in which they exist in hell metal. V
As the examination was conducted with sufiicient
care to detect the smallest particle of silver, and
as none was discovered, it seems to be-a correct
conclusion, that a fraud has been pi'actise‘d‘by
some person for the purpose of speculation.

Religious Ram’-uals.-—— We understand a very
promising revival has recently commenced in
Norwich in this state. The work is principally
at Chelsea. A number are hoping that they have
pztssetl from death unto life, and many are under
deep convictions. In Lisbon,Griswoltl and Plain-
field, adjacent towns, a work of gi'ai:e has been
progressing and extending for some time "past.
In Pittslield, Mass. the reiival has been and still -
. is very great. About 40 have been added to the-
Congregational Church in Canaan,--N. Y. at the
two last communion seasons, and hopes are en-
to-rtained that about 20 more will come. forward.
About 130 are thought tobe hopeful subjects of
the revival, at Nassau, in the space of about two

A letter from Bloomingi'ove_, N. Y. dated Au-
gust 22d. says—-‘ Yesterday I had the pleasureto’
witness 80 persons receive the seal ofthé coven-

cleared; the seats and pews we c all crowded
with the members, and after they liad all partaken
of the symbols, and gone through with the ordin-
ance, they left their seats to ‘make room for those
