them pain, has been adopted in London : they are
made to expire by means of nitrogen gas. By
this means the meat is rendered much more
fresh, of_a more agreeable taste, and may be pre-
served for a greater length of time. A great
number ofthe butchers of London already em-
ploy this process.

when Moth are apt to injure woolens, I take the
-liberty of stating an effectual remedy which I
-have used for several years past. Take 12 cents
worth of Gum Camplior, ’wh1chV,strew over the
bottom of the trunk, which may be filled with
woolens and closed tight. This will effectually
prevent all insects. An bour’s exposure to the
air when taken out, will dissipate the smell of the
